Memory Verse Quizzes
At the beginning of every week our class discusses one verse from the
Good News Bible (each student must have a Good News Bible). That verse
becomes the students' Bible verse for that week (memory verse). The
students are to memorize the verse as they will be tested on the memory
verse Friday morning.
The students are tested on their ability to write the verse
accurately from memory. I ask each student to write down the week's
verse on a sheet of paper. We then grade each paper on the verse's
accuracy. They are graded on punctuation, capitalization, missing words,
and spelling (each
error is worth one point). The point value for each verse varies from
week to week and depends on: the amount of words, capitalized words, and
punctuation marks in the
verse.
Ex. If a verse is worth 40 points and a student misses one word, forgets to capitalize two words, and forgets to place a period at the end of the sentence, four points are deducted from the overall forty points (90%).
